Blue Ridge Fest 2019 was another great success for Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, raising $235,000, through sponsorships, raffle sales, and ticket sales, for charitable organizations in Pickens, Oconee, Anderson, and Greenville Counties. This year's designated charities were: A Child’s Haven, Anderson Free Clinic, Anderson Interfaith Ministries, Cancer Association of Pickens County, The Dream Center of Pickens County, Feed a Hungry Child, Fostering Faithfully, Golden Corner Food Pantry, Grace’s Closet, The Lachlan McIntosh Tannery Foundation, North Greenville Crisis Ministry, and Pickens County Meals on Wheels.

The event was started in 1998 by then President and CEO Charles Dalton and has raised about $3 million for local charities.

"What a great crowd," said Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative President and CEO Jim Lovinggood, as he welcomed everyone to Blue Ridge Fest 2019, held at Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative's office in Pickens. "We sure appreciate your being here tonight and supporting this event. This is our 22nd event. For the first 21 years, we’ve been able to raise $2.7 million for charities. We’re really excited about that, and we’re excited about tonight. Thank you again for being here."

An estimated crowd of 8,000 enjoyed entertainment by The Oak Ridge Boys, The Tams, Jim Quick and the Coastline, and Magic; hundreds of classic cars; food and non-alcoholic beverages; and a chance to win $10,000, $5,000, or $2,000 through a raffle.

Blue Ridge Fest is operated completely by employees who volunteer their time for the event. Lovinggood called Blue Ridge Electric employees important and said, "This event would not happen without them. Our employees volunteer their time throughout the entire evening. In addition to our employees, many family members are assisting them tonight. I really appreciate what our employees do every day, but especially at this event.

"It takes a lot of effort to put something like this on," said Lovinggood, "and there are a lot of people involved in this event. One of those groups of people that are very special to us is our sponsors. We have over 100 sponsors for this event."
