Reflections: In Memory of Journalist Steven Sotloff
By Karen Brewer, Publisher

American journalist Steven Sotloff was murdered - beheaded - by ISIS on September 2, 2014.

Sotloff was the journalist ISIS threatened to kill right after American journalist
James Foley was beheaded.

Born on May 11, 1983 to Arthur and Shirley Sotloff of Florida, Steven was of Jewish ancestry, a grandson of Holocaust survivors, and he was known as “The Voice of the Voiceless.” He was the reporter who broke the Benghazi story, and he was the recipient of several awards during his journalism career, including the Daniel Pearl Award, named for another journalist murdered by terrorists.

In the video below, Steven's parents talk about their son and his legacy and how he wanted to make a difference.

His father said, "Freelance journalists are out there by themselves. They don't get any help. They don't get paid. They have no medical insurance. ..He was there to report. He wasn't there for the fame. He wasn't there for the money. He felt that he had a quest. He wanted to make a difference."

We remember in prayer the families of all journalists killed in the line of duty.

We pray for all journalists who are currently in dangerous places.

We honor all of those journalists who are making sacrifices to make a positive difference in the world.
